Albums Of The Summer 8/20
This has been one of my favorite summers for new music thats being released we’ve gotten so many amazing albums JID, Tyler, Earl is about to drop and we got new Deftones and Blood Orange otw later this month. But these two have been my favorite hands down. I can’t really decide which album I like better. It was so ill riding around OBX blasting that Freddie album when it came out definately one of my favorite moments from this summer. And I got to see Clipse live as well on their tour. I Could really type a whole book on music if I wanted to lol.
TOUR
VA BEACH
Made the last minute decision to see Clipse live and it was definately worth it. One of my favorite concerts iv’e been to i’m pretty sure I was the youngest person there in a 10 mile radius but I didn’t care the energy was amazing and I went word for word, bar for bar the whole time. They should of brought me on stage smh…lol

NYC
8/4
I decided to take my first ever solo trip to NYC for my bday. I find an odd kind of peace when i’m roaming the city. And being there alone was very therapeutic. Solo traveling was something I aways dreamed of doing since I really don’t like following people around all day and it definitely lived up to my expectations just quality time with yourself in a place away from home. I think we should all learn to get lost sometimes. AND found a KAPITAL OVERSHIRT for $89!!
I randomly decided to take a hike in the mountains this morning just because and the silence made me reflect on one of the greatest lessons I have learned the past few years. Learning to be still. Sometimes we tend to get caught in chasing goals or things that we don’t have that we forget to stop and smell the roses. We often trail the idea of things. Eventually reality grabs our hand. Bringing us back home. Every time. Sometimes the greatest blessings are right in front of us without anyone noticing.

“More power to you, but it's no flowers in your vase
(Over and over again, until)
No amount of sugar gon' help with the taste (it stays)
At the end of the day (open)
It's really just you and whatever you think
I'm air mailing you strength”

We are all artists in some sense, we all have dreams, we all paint pictures in our head. We are reflections of our mindset and manifestations and the energy we give out so what does that make us? We all have the potential to build what we choose (with the grace of god) so what does that make us? We are all artists whether you’re a painter, a lawyer, or a surgeon. Our lives are a canvas.

“Well, thank God for the shooter, hmm
And thank God for the leader, hm
And think hard for a message
Blink art on pedestrians, what are you, a believer?
We're tranquil for a Brutus, hey
And hard road for a Ceasar, hey
Well, who came from the heavens?
They kill for a blessin', they gon' do it to Jesus, hm
And thank God for the shootersAnd some of us fall and some of us hover
And some of us shooters and some of us lovers
I see the sum of it all, I'm running for cover
Invite you for supper, but really they hunt you”

One thing I have learned is what we really chase is time. There aren’t enough hours in a day for us to get ahead. At least for most people. Monetary gain is a temporary solution to what we will all eventually yearn for at the end of the day which is time. We often trade one for the other. The more you work leads to earning more leaving us with less time. The less you work the less you earn leaving us with more time. Both leaving us unsatisfied and unfulfilled.
This leads to the journey of finding the balance between meaning and freedom. But we tend to put too much into one or the other leaving us running in circles without us realizing. Sometimes we chase meaning so much that we lend up losing ourselves in the process. Leaving us without time or freedom. And sometimes we chase freedom so much we end up questioning meaning or sacrificing it in the process…At the end of the day you gotta roll the dice anyway lol.
I’ve been in another Jazz phase recently iv’e really been enjoying Venna, Yussef Dayes, DESTIN CONRAD, Mid Spiral, etc. But MALIK has been one of my favorite albums this year. Some days i’m not in the mood for words and just want to get lost in instrumentation. This has been my go to for those days.
My latest obsession…Anybody can get it!!
